PYRE started as a frustration. Premium cigars were either locked behind stuffy club memberships, or sold through outdated websites that felt like they hadn't been touched since 2003. We decided to fix that.

PYRE was founded by two longtime cigar enthusiasts who grew tired of the same complaint at every lounge: great tobacco was hard to find online, and the buying experience was worse than going to a gas station.
The cigars worth smoking were scattered across a dozen websites with outdated inventory, no real product education, and shipping practices that would make a tobacconist wince. Fresh sticks were arriving bone dry. Descriptions were copy-pasted manufacturer fluff. There was no way to actually learn what you were buying.
So we built the store we wanted to buy from. Climate-controlled from day one. Every cigar tasted before it hits the catalog. Real tasting notes written by people who smoked the cigars, not marketing teams who didn't.
PYRE launched with 30 SKUs and a very simple mission: carry only what's worth your time and your money. We've grown, but the mission hasn't changed.

We don't stock everything. We stock what we'd smoke ourselves. Every cigar in the catalog has been evaluated on construction, tobacco quality, consistency, and value. Generic doesn't make the cut.

Every cigar ships from our climate-controlled humidor storage. We include Boveda humidity packs in every order. If it arrives anything less than perfect, we make it right.

We work with family-owned farms and legacy manufacturers who've been doing this for generations. Quality tobacco is agricultural craft — the people growing it deserve to be celebrated, not hidden.
Where the tobacco comes from
Our catalog spans the major growing regions that define premium cigar tobacco. Nicaraguan Jalapa and Estelí for the powerhouses. Dominican Cibao Valley for the refined, complex smokes. Honduran Jamastran for medium-full classics. Ecuadorian shade-grown for wrapper leaves that eat like butter.
We work directly with distributors who maintain long-term relationships with the farms and manufacturers behind these cigars. That means fresher inventory, better pricing, and the ability to tell you exactly what you're smoking and where it came from.
We rotate the catalog as new releases earn their place. Something mediocre doesn't stay just because it's familiar. Something exceptional gets prioritized regardless of how well-known the brand is. That's the deal.

Everyone on the PYRE team smokes. That's not a hiring requirement, it's just how it worked out. When you're building something for people who care deeply about their hobby, the team ends up caring deeply too.
Our curation decisions happen in a walk-in humidor, not a boardroom. Tasting notes are written by the same people who answer your customer service emails. When a new shipment comes in, the whole team samples.
We're small on purpose. A smaller, more passionate team makes better decisions about what belongs in the catalog and what doesn't.
